We’re three parents, who met in our kids’ school playground. We share an interest in finding out how best to support our children in using screens. We come from different perspectives – one of us loves technology; one of us has older kids too and is (still) fairly reluctant about it all, and one of us is at the starting blocks – but is giving increasing attention to it through her work as a psychotherapist.
A technophile, a technophobe, and a luddite, you could say! After chatting and digging into the issues a bit, we came up with an idea to do a survey to ask parents with kids at schools in our local area, what they are doing about screens in their homes. We got hundreds of replies.
Our blogs are a way for people to find out what is working for other families, what concerns other people (and what doesn’t), and what parents of older kids would say to reassure and advise their former selves if they were starting out again!
Between us all, we are learning some useful tips and tricks to make it work for our families – including what doesn’t work. Parents have shared their experience, successes and worries; in our blogs we’ll pass that on.
